The synergy between institutions, educational organizations and industry took center stage during the institutional visit held on July 15. A strategic discussion focused on skills development and the evolving labor market.
Innovation is essential to compete in international markets, but it requires strong foundations built on the quality of human capital, continuous skills development and a deep commitment to the local community. These key principles shaped the institutional visit held on July 15 at our production headquarters in Calcinato, attended by Simona Tironi, Regional Minister for Education, Training and Employment of Lombardy Region, and Professor Gandolfi, representing Scuola Bottega of Brescia.
Business continuity as a core value
The meeting began with a tangible example of stability and generational continuity within our company: the placement of Baidoo, a talented fourth-year student from Scuola Bottega, through a curricular internship. His arrival comes approximately twenty-five years after his father, Justice, joined Metallurgica San Marco.
As explained by Maira Ghidini, HR Manager at Metallurgica San Marco, this experience demonstrates the company’s ability to build long-lasting professional and human relationships. Welcoming students and young talents through internships and apprenticeships is a strategic part of our commitment to supporting new generations as they enter today’s industrial environment. This approach is made possible through continuous collaboration with local educational institutions and by fostering a workplace where cultural diversity is considered a key driver of integration and growth.
Technological innovation and human capital
CEO Marco Gambarini highlighted the ongoing transformation of the manufacturing sector: as industry becomes increasingly advanced and digitalized, companies require ever more technical and specialized professional skills.
Global competitiveness depends not only on investments in cutting-edge technologies and production facilities, but also on the ability to attract, train and retain highly qualified people. Engaging with young professionals who already possess the right technical background and a clear understanding of manufacturing processes represents a significant competitive advantage. Metallurgica San Marco’s positioning as “The Italian Brass Partner” fully embraces this vision: reliability extends beyond the finished product to encompass the entire organization, the excellence of its technical expertise and the responsibility it demonstrates toward its people.
Local partnerships: welfare and bridging the skills gap
The discussion also provided an opportunity to examine the current challenges facing the labor market. Regional Minister Simona Tironi emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of companies as active partners of the education system, particularly in response to today’s demographic challenges.
The meeting explored regional employment initiatives, including the Sezione Rondine Project and programs such as Train to Hire, highlighting the growing importance of corporate welfare. Today, work-life balance, well-structured work organization and employee welfare services have become essential factors in attracting and retaining talented professionals.
Professor Gandolfi shared this vision, stressing the need to bring educational methods closer to real industrial operations through hands-on laboratory activities and curricular experiences within companies. Combining technical education with individual guidance and support is essential to preparing the workforce of tomorrow.
The visit concluded with a tour of selected production areas, giving the institutional delegation the opportunity to experience firsthand the advanced technological standards, process efficiency and rigorous workplace management that define Metallurgica San Marco’s daily operations.
