Metallurgica San Marco supports the expedition of climbers Manni and Mondinelli to reach the fifth highest peak in the world

Metallurgica San Marco confirms its closeness to the world of sport. A fundamental director for the company, of which the company has always been strongly convinced and which, for this reason, strongly supports.

With this goal, Metallurgica San Marco contributed to the “FMSI Expedition Makalu 2022” which will see the climbers Roberto Manni and Silvio “Il Gnaro” Mondinelli as protagonists. The expedition, which started at the end of April 2022 and will last at least 50 days, will take the two sports experts to the summit of the fifth highest mountain in the world.

Makalu, with its 8462 meters, belongs to the Himalayas and is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet, about 22 km from Mount Everest. It is among the most sought-after peaks by world climbers and among the most complex for two factors: the big exposure of its walls to strong Himalayan winds and the big difference in height (starting, in fact, from 470 meters above sea level).

Manni and Mondinelli are expert climbers, with exceptional feats behind them above 8000 meters. Roberto Manni, mountain guide and ski instructor from Brescia, boasts experiences in Peru, Patagonia and the Himalayas. He also reached the top of Mount Everest. Silvio “Il Gnaro” Mondinelli is the man of records. He is, in fact, one of only six sportsmen in the world to have reached all fourteen highest peaks on Earth without the use of complementary oxygen. He is also one of the very few climbers who have faced Everest from both sides.

Metallurgica San Marco proudly supports them as they face their umpteenth extraordinary feat. An incredible experience and commitment, and they receive the esteem and all the support they deserve.
